Here it is. The homesite is going to be where the notch in CR16 is, between the two creeks and above the clearing by the road. We have bids out for clearing and levelling. Nothing firm yet, just waiting for everyone to recover from the weather.
With the snow and ice of the past week, it is hard to imagine a sunny warm day like today. The project won't really get moving until March, when my schedule opens up and I can devote all my free time to moving it forward.
We are thinking of building a work house out there, a one-room shack we can use as a weekender. It would be cheaper than a trailer in the short term and give us an outbuilding to use later.
Here is the account of making our mountain homestead. What we have done so far: we bought a plot of land outside of Three Brothers, AR. Part of the purchase was getting a perc test (septic system test). That is pretty much all of the actual work done.We have a lot of plans, an unrealisticly tight budget, a friend who is a builder, and absolutely no idea of what we have gotten ourselves into. All that we do know for sure is that we keep dreaming about the mountain.
