Declaration of Vegan Indepedence

Being vegan is not a burden, but a liberation.  In this season of independence, when we celebrate the birth of our great country, I am moved to consider my own personal freedom.   For my blessings are many, and I would like to share them.

I am free to be vegan.

I eat food free from animal products.  I don't have to worry about cross-contamination, licking the spoon, or the level of antibiotics in my meals.

I am free from heart disease, diverticulitis, allergies, and asthma.

I am free to abstain from promoting cruelty, suffering, and murder.  I am free to let the confinement sheds, manure lagoons, and slaughterhouses close for lack of business.

I am free from the stress of constant killing and relentless waste.   I don't have to look dinner in the eye before I kill it, and live with the memory of seeing it look back at me in fear. I am free to live without guilt.

I am free to avoid the diseases carried by animals, and to keep from gathering flocks where new germs can breed.  I am free to let the wild things go where they may, be they predators or prey.

I am free, and am blessed with the choice to live without consuming the others around me.

God bless America.
