Evolution of Netzingers

This site is my soap box to the world. It started out as a place to host my daily zinger, the aphorism-a-day that I used to post on my office whiteboard at Sungard. The zingers always seemed to find a home, since no matter where I worked, there were always plenty of whiteboards.

Everywhere I went, the daily zingers developed a following. If I skipped a day, people would stop by and would tell me it was time for a new one. I was asked, on more than one occasion, "where those things came from." The only answer I could give was to say that they just came to me. And they still come to me, and I still don't know where they come from.

The list of zingers grew to an unmanageable size after a few years, and I started hosting them on line- first on my Erol's page and then here, on netzingers.com Various resources were added, such as the Permutated Link pages, small articles on topics such as Urban Legends, and a photo gallery of pet pictures.

In October 2005, I added a Wordpress blog and redid the site a couple times using more advanced CSS styles. The previous incarnation used a dynamic index page to display articles. When I found out that Google Sitemaps had a problem with the fancy index page I decided to go with a simpler, more flexible approach.

The current site is entirely Wordpress-based, with plug-ins for static home page and last-modified date/time. The theme is a heavily modified version of the Connections theme from wpthemes.info.

This site will feature a greatly expanded amount of content in the near future, so be sure to check back early and often!

The daily zinger dates back to 1995.
Netzingers.com has been registered since 2000.
